In June 1932, Picasso is represented in a special issue of Cahiers d'Art magazine. June 16 exhibits 236 works, dated from 1901 - 1932, at the first retrospective exhibition in Georges Petit’s gallery in Paris. In summer he works on a sculpture in Boisgeloup. In October, the first volume of catalog raisonne on works by Picasso is finished; it was created by art historian Christian Zervos. During this year he creates a series of drawings inspired by the Crucifixion on the cross of the German painter Mathias Gr?newald. In November, he begins to work on the "rescue" theme (le sauvetage).
