Oil on canvas
New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art
In 2010 a lady visitor of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York fell straight at the picture which resulted into a split of about 15 cm. Specialists of the Museum examined the picture and stated: “The most important thing is that the central part is unharmed and restoration will not be difficult.” The painting was sent to be restored; it was then that experts found another work under the coat of paint - a landscape with water, cliffs and a human figure painted by another artist, most likely one of Picasso’s contemporaries.
