In January 1949, Kahnweiler publishes a book Picasso’s Sculptures; the photos for the book are performed by Brassa?. In February, the artist paints a dove, which gets chosen as an emblem for the World Congress of the Supporters of Peace by the writer Louis Aragon. On April 19th Paloma Picasso was born. On April 20th, the Peace Congress opens in Paris. In late fall, the artist returns to Vallauris, where he buys several premises in the city of Fournas to use as a studio.
